Ryan Papenhuyzen weighing up $1.5 million switch to breakaway rugby union competition

Ryan Papenhuyzen is the latest high-profile NRL star to be linked with a potential move to the cashed-up R360 competition.
According to The Sydney Morning Herald, the fleet-footed Storm fullback has held a "high-level meeting" with officials of the breakaway league.
Competition organisers are currently in Australia for the British and Irish Lions tour and Papenhuyzen has gained their attention.

The 27-year-old's contract with Melbourne finishes at the end of next season and he is giving strong consideration to the potential code switch.

Papenhuyzen has a background in the 15-man code having played schoolboy rugby for Oakhill College before becoming one of rugby league's marquee men.
His manager, Clinton Schifcofske, declined to comment when contacted by the Herald.

A potential deal with the rebel competition could see Papenhuyzen pocket $1.5 million per year, which is higher than any player in the NRL.
It comes after Warriors star Roger Tuivasa-Sheck and Dragons enforcer Jaydn Su'A have both been linked with a move to the competition for 2027.
