Mitchell Moses and Tallyn Da Silva have quickly assured rugby league fans there is no issue between the pair after the Eels skipper's public baking of the young hooker.

In the dying stages of Parramatta's 19-18 win over the Cowboys on Sunday afternoon, mid-season recruit Da Silva came up with a series of poor plays that left Moses fuming.

Moses was seen screaming at his teammate on three separate occasions, with a few expletives thrown in for good measure.

While some on social media were critical of the sprays from Moses, former players have thrown their support behind the incumbent Kangaroos halfback.

Panthers legend Greg Alexander backed the hard-line stance from Moses but admitted it was rare for a senior player to grill a younger teammate in such fashion.

"I haven't seen that in ages," he said on SEN.

"I thought stuff like that had died out our game. It is absolutely fair game ... I can't remember a player being berated like that. Da Silva probably deserved it too.

"I'm not going to criticise Mitch Moses over it."

Laurie Daley - who coached Moses at State of Origin level earlier this year - believes the tense on-field moment will hold Da Silva in good stead long-term.

"That's obviously frustration and passion coming out from Moses," the NSW coach said on Sky Sports Radio's The Big Sports Breakfast on Monday morning.

"As a No.7 and one of the best in the game, you want the ball in your hands in the big moments and he would've made that quite clear to Tallyn.

"While they got away with it yesterday, I think it's a good learning curve for the young No.9 because I think he's a really good player.

"In a good football side, you're able to cop sprays because the best football sides that I've been in, out on the field and behind closed doors, when you have your team meetings, everything's very open and honest.

"You've got to be able to put that aside. If you've done something wrong, accept it and use it moving forward as a learning. He'll never do that again - I'll guarantee you."

Premiership winner Scott Sattler echoed those sentiments and hopes that Parramatta players take notice of the standards Moses expects on the field.

"When you have a young player coming into the group, you want to let him know what you are striving for as a group, what you are heading towards rather than what you're walking away from," Sattler said on SEN.

"I loved that from Mitchell Moses. There'd be no problem between the players.

"To Parramatta fans that should be a sign that you have a coach that is trying to drive high standards and you have a captain that's driving the same standards - so when the coach turns his back, the captain is going to pick up the slack.

"If you're a Parramatta fan, I would think they would love seeing what they saw."

Moses posted on Instagram following the round 23 victory and as a clear sign of the pair's budding relationship, Da Silva commented with a tongue-in-cheek reply.

Moses replied by saying "love me little mate" as the 20-year-old finds his feet at a new club after leaving the Wests Tigers.

Parramatta will take on the Rabbitohs this weekend at Allianz Stadium.
