Roosters powerbrokers Mark Bouris and Nick Politis escape sanction for Las Vegas referee incident

Roosters chairman Nick Politis and board member Mark Bouris have escaped sanction after a controversial incident in Las Vegas at the start of the season.

Politis and Bouris were both accused of abusing a referee at the Nines tournament when they were watching the Los Angeles Roosters.

Referee Mitch James made the complaint which was investigated by the NRL integrity unit.

The Sydney Morning Herald reports that neither of the high profile figures have been sanctioned by the NRL but have been warned to not approach match officials.

The allegation from James had been that both men confronted him with Bouris accused of stating "you reffed us out of the game".

Bouris had denied to The Herald that he and Politis were threatening but confirmed that there was an incident.

Meanwhile, Manly hooker Gordon Chan Kum Tong has also escaped punishment for an incident where he confronted a Warriors fan.

The NRL issued him with a warning.
