NSW Police, NRL integrity unit called in to investigate deepfake AI attack against Origin star

The Gold Coast Titans have responded to the circulation of fake images of star winger Jaime Chapman after being alerted to their production and distribution online.
Earlier this week, the NRLW star took to social media, calling out the "damaging" act where doctored images of her were posted on the internet.
In a post to her Instagram story, Chapman suggested she had been subject to a deepfake attack more than once and hit out at the person responsible.

In a club statement released on Tuesday, the Titans said they had joined with New South Wales Rugby League to support Chapman, who is working with the NRL Integrity Unit and New South Wales Police to trace the origin of the deepfake images.
"Jaime is an incredible role model for not just our club, but for the game as a whole," Titans CEO Steve Mitchell said.
"Not only is she a star on the field with the Titans and the Blues, but her continued work in the community is exemplary as she continues to inspire young girls of all ages on and off the field.
"It's hugely disappointing to see her victimised in this way and we will continue to support Jaime and work with the NRL and authorities on this matter.
"We will always stand up to online bullying and the creation of such defamatory false content that Jaime has been subjected to, and I wholeheartedly join with her in condemning those who have produced such vile material."
In her Instagram post, the NSW star shared an original image, which had been doctored, layered on a photo of the beach.

"Have a good day to everyone except those who make fake AI photos of other people, all love," she wrote.
"Next time, think of how damaging this can be to someone and their loved ones.
"That has happened a few times now and it needs to stop."
Last year, Chapman played eight games for the Titans, scoring three tries.
She played on the wing in the Origin series opener earlier this month, with NSW winning 32-12.
Chapman will again don blue on Thursday night to represent her state in Origin II.
