Eels star Dylan Brown is facing suspension after an incident with a match official during his side's loss to Canterbury on Monday afternoon.

The five-eighth has been charged with grade two contrary conduct in the 26th minute after colliding with referee Gerard Sutton.

Brown will miss one game with an early guilty plea and risks two weeks on the sidelines should he opt to fight the charge and lose.

Brown collided with Sutton while chasing a kick, but the incident went largely unnoticed at the time it occurred and no penalty was blown.

It's another major blow for Jason Ryles, with his side still languishing in the bottom four on the NRL ladder at the half-way mark of his first season in charge.

The absence of Brown could see the coach turn to young gun Joash Papal'i, who has already been earmarked as the long-term No.6 for the club.

The visitors were level at 12-12 in a rain-affected clash at Accor Stadium, but the hosts ran away with it in the second half as Lachlan Galvin scoring the final try.

Parramatta will have a bye next weekend before facing the Titans in round 16.
