'Sad sight': Hamiso Tabuai-Fidow makes history before injury blow in huge win against Raiders

In a one-sided clash, the Dolphins delivered a huge 62-24 win over the Raiders on Sunday afternoon.

With the Dolphins unable to make the finals and the minor-premier Raiders resting 10 key players, the season-ending clash at Kayo Stadium lacked high stakes.

However, someone forgot to tell the Dolphins, who ran in five first-half tries against the second-string Raiders to lead 30-nill at half time.

Hamiso Tabuai-Fidow was the star of the show, scoring a hat-trick to come within one try of the NRL's top try-scorer this season, the Roosters' Mark Nawaqanitawase.

However, his day ended prematurely after he suffered a suspected MCL injury to his knee in a tackle.

Tabuai-Fidow was threatening to score his fourth try when he went down in pain.

"This is a sad sight," Andrew Voss said in commentary for Fox Sport.

Jamayne Isaako was on song early, putting on a goal-kicking clinic with eight conversions from his 10 attempts. The fullback also added a second-half try to tally 20 points.

In a promising sign for the Raiders, debutant Joe Roddy scored a quick double.

Dolphins winger Tevita Naufahu opened the scoring in the eighth minute with a spectacular play.

After making a break down the sideline, Naufahu put the home team in a prime attacking position before completing the play with an acrobatic dive in the corner to score.

With his try, the floodgates opened for the Dolphins as Oryn Keeley and Jake Averillo also crossed.

Keeley's try was the result of a decoy run that created space for Tabuai-Fidow.

The fullback then offloaded to Trai Fuller, who found Keeley in support.

Averillo's try came from a Kodi Nikorima bomb.

With none of the Raiders players contesting the kick, Tabuai-Fidow caught the ball and spun it out wide, allowing Averillo to dive over.

Tabuai-Fidow then added a first-half double.

His first try came when he scooped up a dropped ball from a Nikorima bomb, making him the first Dolphins player in history to score 50 points for the team.

Five minutes later, he received a long pass from Isaiya Katoa, who had taken the ball from Trai Fuller following Isaako's intercept.

After the main break, the Raiders responded with a try from debutant Michael Asomua.

The young winger pounced on a loose ball after a dropped bomb to score his first NRL try.

Jeremy Marshall-King sent Ray Stone in for a try, before Tabuai-Fidow added his third of the afternoon.

In the 54th minute, Dolphins veteran Mark Nicholls took to the field for his final NRL game.

He scored with his very first touch and then took over the kicking duties to convert his own try.

While Noah Martin scored the Raiders' second try of the game, it made little difference as the Dolphins reached a 50-point tally with a second try from Naufahu.

In a sobering statistic for the Raiders, they must now make history to win the premiership, as no team has ever won the grand final after conceding 50 points in a game.
