Manly prop Josh Aloiai has been charged for an ugly tripping incident during his side's loss to the Panthers on Sunday afternoon.

The 28-year-old was placed on report during the Sea Eagles clash with the reigning premiers, with replays showing a clear trip on fullback Daine Laurie.

Aloiai has been hit with a grade two dangerous contact charge and will miss the next two games with an early guilty plea.

The front-rower has already spent time on the sidelines this year through suspension after taking out the legs of Shaun Johnson in round six.

Aloiai wasn't the only Manly player to be charged by the match review committee, with fellow enforcer Nathan Brown also finding himself in hot water for a hair pull.
