South Sydney have officially poached one of Manly's brightest young stars, with the club confirming the signing of Jamie Humphreys for the 2025 season.

Less than 24 hours after making his NRL debut for the Sea Eagles, Humphreys has put pen to paper on a two-year deal with the Rabbitohs.

As first reported by Wide World of Sports last month, the 22-year-old will make the move to Redfern next year and will battle for a spot in the spine under Wayne Bennett.

Humphreys is capable of playing in the halves or at hooker and looked right at home in the No.7 jumper on Sunday afternoon, helping Manly to a huge win over Newcastle.

The playmaker earned high praise from Andrew Johns for his performance, which included the opening try of the match in the 44-6 drubbing at Brookvale Oval.

With the looming departure of Damien Cook and uncertainty over the future of Lachlan Ilias, the signing of Humphreys is an astute one by the Bunnies.

"Jamie is a player we have kept our eye on for a number of years and we have always been impressed by his style of play and work ethic," head of football Mark Ellison said.

"He made his first grade debut yesterday, scoring a try and kicking three goals, and we have seen him play a number of games in the pre-season challenge.

"He has always played strongly at either hooker or in the halves. His versatility is a positive for our squad and we're looking forward to having him join us for pre-season in November as he embarks on the next stage of his career in the red and green."

Humphreys' departure will leave plenty of question marks at the Sea Eagles, with veteran halfback and captain Daly Cherry-Evans off-contract at the end of next year.
