Frank Ponissi re-commits to Storm despite reported interest from AFL club Collingwood
Melbourne have been given a major boost heading into next season, with director of football Frank Ponissi signing a long-term extension with the club.
Ponissi has been in charge of the Storm alongside head coach Craig Bellamy for 17 years, winning three premierships at the club during his tenure.
The highly-regarded administrator was reportedly sounded out by Collingwood last month, but has opted to knock back the powerhouse AFL club.

Ponissi's new contract will see him remain at the Storm until the end of 2029.

"I thoroughly enjoy and am highly motivated by the people that I work with, and I very much want to be part of continued success with the club," Ponissi said.
"I am also exceptionally passionate and very excited about driving our pathways program that we commenced just over 12 months ago."
Ponissi first joined the club in November 2007 and has contributed an enormous amount to the Victorian-based club, including the pathways and junior rep programs.
Melbourne finished agonisingly close to another NRL title this year, falling short against the Panthers in a gripping grand final.
The club will welcome State of Origin forward Stefano Utoikamanu to the ranks next year, while also bringing through a host of young talent.
