Felise Kaufusi cleared to play in must-win clash after successful NRL judiciary hearing

Dolphins enforcer Felise Kaufusi has been cleared to play in his side's must-win clash with the Knights after a successful trip to the NRL judiciary.

The back-rower was facing the prospect of spending three games on the sidelines after being hit with a grade two dangerous contact charge in round 26.

Kaufusi rushed out of the line to whack Adam Reynolds after a horrible pass from dummy half led to a knock on and was sin binned for the incident.

With the Dolphins facing the prospect of being without one of their most experienced players on the eve of the finals series, club officials opted to fight the charge at the panel and were successful, downgrading the charge to a grade one.

Kaufusi will now be available for the fixture against Newcastle on the road, with the winner almost certain to secure eighth spot on the ladder and squeeze into sudden-death footy the following week.

Reynolds came from the field for a HIA after the shot from his rival and exchanged words with Kaufusi as they came from the field.

Kaufusi wasn't the only one to be offered a ban from the Dolphins-Broncos match, with Xavier Willison also offered one match for a high shot on Ray Stone that also earned him a spell in the bin.

With eighth spot on the line after the Dragons' loss, the Dolphins dominated at Suncorp Stadium to win 40-6 and put themselves back in a finals spot.

"It was a Dolphins demolition," Mal Meninga said.

The Dolphins started the match on fire, leading 12-0 after 20 minutes with tries to Jamayne Isaako and Jake Averillo. The latter's four-pointer came while the Dolphins were down to 12-men.

Brisbane hit back when Patrick Carrigan scored in the 24th minute but from there it was a Dolphins massacre.

Willison's sin bin for a high shot before half-time didn't help the Broncos either.

Hamiso Tabuai-Fidow and Averillo both scored the final two tries in the half to lead 24-6.

After the break, the Dolphins continued to dominate with Herbie Farnworth scoring a double while Tabuai-Fidow added his second too.
