Cameron Murray open to conversation with Eddie Jones on potential code switch
South Sydney Rabbitohs captain Cameron Murray has refused to shut the door on a potential code switch, suggesting that he is open to a conversation with Wallabies coach Eddie Jones.
According to Sydney Morning Herald reports, Wallabies officials are already in contact with Murray's camp with the hope of luring him over to rugby union at the end of his current contract in 2025.
If Murray leaves Redfern at the end of his current deal, it would leave him a runway of over 18 months to make the Wallabies squad for the 2027 Rugby World Cup on home soil.

While Murray is open to a potential switch down the line, he remains fully focused on bringing another premiership to South Sydney.

"I'm contracted for three years, that's where my focus is, and beyond that, the time will come to think about my future," Murray told the Herald on Tuesday.
"I haven't heard anything from Eddie. I haven't heard from anyone, really.

"I'm not someone who will say, 'I'm happy to win a few comps and then go somewhere else'. This club means too much to me to just tick off a few comps and then leave.
"If the time comes and I'm off contract, and I'm negotiating my future, I'll think about it then. I loved school rugby. I'll still watch the big internationals."

Jones dropped Murray's name as a potential NRL star who could come over to rugby union in a chat with league icon Phil Gould last month, saying the Souths captain would be "pretty handy" at the inside centre position.
"That sounded a bit ominous," Gould said of Jones' Murray name-drop.
"We're talking Andrew Johns, Billy Slater ... Cameron Murray - where does that come from? That just didn't fit. I've got no doubt he's a target, after listening to that.
"He loves rugby league, played rugby league as a kid and he's a South Sydney fan."
Jones returned to the helm of Australian rugby in January over 17 years since he last led the Wallabies.
