Melbourne Storm prop Tui Kamikamica stood down under NRL's no-fault stand down policy

Melbourne Storm prop Tui Kamikamica has been stood down from playing duties under the NRL's no-fault stand down policy.

Kamikamica last month was charged by Queensland Police over an alleged incident involving a woman outside a Brisbane hotel.

After the 27-year-old was stood down by his club in wake of the alleged incident, it was today revealed that the NRL has now placed Kamikamica under its no-fault stand down policy.

The policy allows Kamikamica to continue training with the club while being being paid, but he won't be allowed to take to the field until the matter has been resolved.

"The NRL has today advised Melbourne Storm prop Tui Kamikamica that he will be subject to the NRL's no-fault stand down policy," a statement on the Storm website read.

"Kamikamica was stood down from training by the Storm in November after he was charged with assault. He has since informed the club he intends to enter a plea of not guilty to the charges.

"The NRL's no-fault stand down policy allows Kamikamica to continue training, but he will be unavailable for selection to play while court proceedings are ongoing.

"As a result of the policy, and having considered all available information, the club believes it is appropriate that Kamikamica returns to training tomorrow.

"The club will make no further comment as the matter is now before the courts."

Kamikamica will have a court hearing on January 10.

Since making his debut in 2017, Kamikamica has made 55 NRL appearances for the Storm while also representing Fiji on 12 occasions.
