'Not going to fix it': Manly coach Des Hasler says Tom Trbojevic's return won't solve poor form

Manly coach Des Hasler has conceded star fullback Tom Trbojevic's imminent return is "not going to fix" the problems that have resulted in the club losing all four games to start the season.

The Sea Eagles last night were blown off the park by ladder-leaders Penrith, who notched the opening four tries of the game en route to running out 46-6 victors at Brookvale Oval.

A total of 37 missed tackles and 10 errors ultimately cruelled Manly.

The Sea Eagles, who were without first-choice hooker Manase Fainu, back-rower Curtis Sironen and Trbojevic, were dealt even more injury blows with Morgan Boyle (shoulder) and centre Moses Suli (lower back) both unable to finish the game.

The one positive Manly fans have been clinging to is the return of their star fullback, Trbojevic, who's been hampered with hamstring injuries.

But despite hopes of the 24-year-old making his return next week, Hasler believes it will do little to rid the club of the mistakes being made on the field.

"We're exploring that [a return next week for Trbojevic], yes," Hasler told reporters after the match.

"That's not going to fix it. He's not going to do anything to make us hang onto the ball.

"It's not a decision we're going to rush."

Asked how the club can stem the flow of points conceded, Hasler pinpointed the breakdown in communication.

"There was certainly a bit of miscommunication and disconnect that we need to address."
