A training injury could sideline Wests Tigers star Luke Brooks for the rest of the 2022 season.

Brooks injured his calf on Wednesday and the club has confirmed he will be out for five to six weeks, with only five rounds remaining this season.

Given the Tigers are last on the ladder there seems little reason to rush the 27-year-old back onto the field.

Jock Madden will slot into halfback, leaving Jackson Hastings at lock.

"Jock has done well for us whenever he's been called upon this season," interim coach Brett Kimmorley said.

"He's a quality player and I know he'll make the most of this opportunity."

It's been a tumultuous week for the club, following Sunday's 27-26 loss to the Cowboys, with the NRL admitting on Monday that the match-winning penalty should not have been awarded to North Queensland.
