Kiwi enforcer delivers throat slit threat

Kiwi enforcer Martin Taupuau produced an ugly throat slit gesture aimed at Kangaroos forward Sam Thaiday after a tackle during the Anzac Test.

With the Kiwis leading 18-6 just before halftime, Taupau was tackled by Cameron Smith, Greg Inglis and Thaiday close to the Australian tryline.

Thaiday had his arm wrapped around the Kiwi forward's throat in a 'crusher tackle', which drew a penalty.

A furious Taupua immediately jumped to his feet, staring at the Brisbane backrower, before gesturing with his thumb in a slicing motion across his throat.

Thaiday merely stared back, clearly unconcerned by the threat.

But perhaps he had other things on his mind as the New Zealanders blitzed Australia with a powerhouse first half.

Taupau and Thaiday came together in the very next set after halfback Shaun Johnson slotted a penalty to give the visitors a 20-6 lead, with the Kangaroos backrower tackling his rival without incident.

But moments later the Kiwis were rejoicing after scoring their fourth try of the match in the shadows of the break to skip away to a 26-6 lead.

Stephen Kearney's men then held out a desperate Kangaroos fightback in the scond half to run out 26-12 winners and claim their third straight victory over Tim Sheens' side.
