Quarter-final 1

Australia v Samoa at TIO Stadium, Darwin, 8.30pm AEDT

* The Aussies have been in second gear during the group stage but expect them to run out their best 17 and make a point. Samoa, meanwhile, have been underwhelming and advanced to the quarters despite not winning a game.

SATURDAY, November 18

Quarter-final 2

Tonga v Lebanon at AMI Stadium, Christchurch, 3pm AEDT

* Just how far can Tonga go in this tournament? After upsetting New Zealand, they'll be dreaming of a final against Australia and will be favourites against the Cedars. Lebanon didn't disgrace themselves in their 34-0 loss to Australia but will need to find another gear or two.

Quarter-final 3

New Zealand v Fiji at Westpac Stadium, Wellington, 5.30pm AEDT

* This is a test of character for the Kiwis. After suffering a historic loss at the hands of tier-two nation Tonga on the weekend, they need to find a way to lift themselves off the canvas. Jarryd Hayne's Fiji cruised through the group stage and face their first real test of the tournament.

SUNDAY, November 19

Quarter-final 4

England v Papua New Guinea at AAMI Park, Melbourne, 4pm AEDT

* What can Wayne Bennett's England side muster? They're on the favourable side of the draw and can't meet Australia until the final. The Kumuls have played with plenty of heart but haven't faced a test like this during the World Cup so far.

SEMI-FINALS

Friday, November 24 - winner of QF1 v winner of QF3 at Suncorp Stadium, Brisbane

Saturday, November 25 - winner of QF2 v winner of QF4 at Mount Smart Stadium, Auckland.
