John Hopoate could be 'moved on' as Manly's SG Ball coach as soon as Monday as the Sea Eagles attempt to reach a detente with the NRL over the controversial rugby league figure.

Hopoate coached Manly's SG Ball side last weekend in their heavy defeat to Newcastle against the wishes of the game's governing body.

The NRL's most suspended player has not been registered as an official for the 2016 season with the league and as such is ineligible to be on the Sea Eagles staff.

Manly have been at loggerheads with the NRL over the issue since November.

However the threat of a significant fine and even the potential loss of competition points has forced the Sea Eagles hand.

The NRL was due to deliver an infraction notice to the Sea Eagles over the issue, which has been the subject of an Integrity Unit investigation, on Friday.

But talks between the two parties have been fruitful in that time, with the issue expected to be concluded this week.

Manly's SG Ball side have the bye this weekend, which has allowed the NRL and Manly extended time to thrash out the issue and reach an agreement.
