The NRL is barely three rounds old and already Gold Coast backrower Kevin Proctor has come up with an early contender for Falcon of the Year.

With the Titans trailing 12-6 but on the attack in the first half, halfback Ashley Taylor fired a bullet pass to his outside support.

The ball never reached its intended target after Proctor got in the way and play broke down after it ricocheted with force off his head.

"That's a deadest falcon off the head of Kevin Proctor," Channel Nine commentator Mathew Thompson said.

"I know he's got big hair Kevin Proctor but that pass was going nowhere but his noggin.

"You couldn’t have hit him any more flush if you tried."

Fellow Channel Nine commentator Wally Lewis added: "Tyronne Roberts-Davis, he was unmarked on this side of the field, if the ball had carried through it would have given him an opportunity in open space."

Thankfully, the incident did not impact on the outcome of the match with the Titans overcoming a horror injury toll on the night to down competition leaders Parramatta 26-14.
