'Heroes of our club': Rabbitohs icon George Piggins ends 17-year stand-off with club
Souths legend George Piggins and wife Nolene have ended a 17-year standoff with the club, agreeing to have their Life Memberships reinstated.
Piggins, who played 118 games for the club between 1967-78 and coached the Rabbitohs from 1986-1990, was made a life member of South Sydney Football Club in 1979.
Nolene was awarded a similar honour in 2002.

When Russell Crowe and Peter Holmes à Court purchased the Rabbitohs in 2006, all existing life members had to sign a form to transfer their life membership to the privately owned club.
As fierce opponents of the privatisation, George and Nolene refused to do so, walking away from Redfern.
They've now had a change of heart, the last living life members to do so.
Souths chairman, Nick Pappas, welcomed the news.

"It is very pleasing for all South Sydney Members that George and Nolene, both heroes of our club, have resumed their rightful place as Life Members and there could be no more unifying moment for our great club on the cusp of another exciting season."
Since 2003 the George Piggins Medal has been awarded to the club's best and fairest.
The pair will have their life membership officially reinstated at the end of February.
