Gallen gets 'falconed' by Fifita

Cronulla skipper Paul Gallen has joined the "falcon" club after being struck in the head by an errant pass from Andrew Fifita during their clash with Canterbury.

With the Sharks starting the game clearly out of sorts, Gallen was pushing up in support of Fifita in the 19th minute when the prop threw a short pass straight into the veteran's head.

The ball hit Gallen with such force that it ricocheted to the Bulldogs, who gleefully lapped up possession.

And they soon made them pay with the home side working the ball down field from the ensuing set of six before hooker Michael Lichaa scored a try to give Canterbury a 12-0 lead.

The error came during a poor first half for the competition leaders, who earlier conceded a try to Josh Reynolds after a poor kick chase allowed 'Dogs fullback Will Hopoate to run 60m on a kick return.

Ben Barba also dropped the ball over the line to bomb a certain try.
