Eels coach backs down from ref criticism

Parramatta coach Brad Arthur has backed down from his criticism of the NRL officials for Corey Norman's sin-binning, saying they were right to march his playmaker.

Arthur was furious in the wake of Saturday's 32-16 loss to North Queensland, claiming his side was robbed of the opportunity to contend for the win when Norman was sent to the bin for 10 minutes for a professional foul on Michael Morgan at a crucial point in the game.

While the Eels were reduced to 12 men, the Cowboys piled on two tries to seal the win at 1300SMILES Stadium.

After the game, Arthur said he would ask NRL referees boss Tony Archer for a please explain, however on Thursday said that after reviewing the incident, he believed the men in the middle got it right.

"Look, it's hard, straight after the game we don't get to see replays, there were no replays available, so I'm going in there blind," Arthur said.

"Looking at the replay, it's a professional foul. They made the right decision."
