Star Canterbury recruit Dylan Napa says he's had some "dark days" as he awaits any penalty from the NRL for his involvement in two explicit sex tapes.

Fronting the media for the first time since the videos were released online last month, the representative forward said on Wednesday he was embarrassed.

"There were some dark days," Napa told reporters.

"It wasn’t the ideal start to 2019, but I had some days that weren’t so pleasant but I’ve had plenty of support from my family and my Bulldogs family."

Napa said he had no idea how the videos, recorded five years ago, were made public.

When pressed about whether he was embarrassed about the videos being leaked, Napa's answer was telling: "If it was you how would you feel?"

The 26-year-old was unable to comment thoroughly about the tape due to an ongoing investigation.

After winning a premiership last year as a member of the Sydney Roosters, Napa joined the Bulldogs after hard-man David Klemmer joined the Newcastle Knights.
