St George Illawarra Dragons confirm Andrew McCullough signing

St George Illawarra has officially signed Brisbane Broncos hooker Andrew McCullough on a three-year deal.

The move will keep McCullough at the Red V until at least the end of the 2023 season, after.

The former Queensland State of Origin representative will join the Dragons immediately following his release from the Broncos, the club he made his NRL debut for in 2008.

It's another big coup from new coach Anthony Griffin who has set about implementing a new regime in the Illawarra since his appointment to the top job at the end of last season.

The pair will reunite, having worked with each other during Griffin's stint at the Broncos (2011-2014), with McCullough expected to come straight into the lineup to replace the injured Cameron McInness who suffered a season-ending knee injury last week.

"It's no secret that we have been interested in Andrew McCullough for a while now and we're pleased to see him finally sign with the Dragons," General manager of football Ben Haran said.

"Signing a player of Andrew's calibre will no doubt inject plenty of experience into our team and wider squad while his style of play will complement the development of the exciting young talent we have here at the Dragons."

The veteran hooker enjoyed a loan stint with the Knights last year before a serious hamstring injury ended his time in Newcastle.

McCullough's signing follows Daniel Alvaro, Jack Bird and Poasa Faamausili's arrivals.
