Penrith Panthers centre Dean Whare has laid out Bulldogs star Jeremy Marshall-King with a brutal hit in the Panthers' 22-14 win on Friday night.

The Bulldogs were attempting to mount a late comeback when Whare sized up the Bulldogs half resulting in the 22-year-old laying motionless on the ground.

Bulldogs players remonstrated with the Kimi international following the hit, but were unable to come away with the win.

Canterbury looked to be running away with the contest early, scoring the first two tries of the night, before the Panthers came back in signature fashion.

Unfortunately for Penrith, their win was soured by the news of fullback Dylan Edwards suffering a dislocated shoulder in the first half.
