Ben Barba to hand himself in to police over Australia Day incident
Disgraced former NRL player Ben Barba will on Tuesday hand himself in to police over the alleged incident involving himself and his partner on Australia Day.
After receiving an NRL lifeline from the North Queensland Cowboys, Barba was sacked by the club and deregistered by the NRL after officials viewed CCTV which allegedly showed him throwing rocks at his partner.
According to Nine News, Barba’s partner Ainslie Currie will not make a complaint against him, which means he will only be charged with a public nuisance type offence.

Ms Currie even went as far as to beg the Cowboys not to sack Barba after the Australia Day incident for the sake of his family, according to a Courier Mail report.
A furious Barba told Nine News on Monday that he had “lost everything” and that he was going to be “charged with nothing", while threatening to hurt Nine News reporter Tim Arvier, saying: "Do you want me to hurt you?"
Senior police have told Nine News they are disappointed that a complaint should not be made but that was the choice of Barba’s partner.
