NHL player fined for blatant dive

Nashville Predators’ James Neal has earned the ire of the National Hockey League after the winger committed a blatant dive in a recent match.

Neal, a reportedly notorious diver, has become the first player to be fined under the sport’s new anti-diving legislation.

The NHL decided to act after footage captured Neal tumbling to the ice after barely being clipped by a rival’s stick.

In the video, the 27-year-old takes a theatrical dive after he is tapped behind the legs during match against the San Jose Sharks.

However, the $2,400 fine is hardly a deterrent with Neal reportedly earning $6.1 million a season.
