NFL player snatches rival's gold chain

Here’s something you’ve probably never seen before on a sporting field.

It was the last round of the NFL regular season and the match between the Denver Broncos and the play-off bound Oakland Raiders was a feisty one to say the least.

Broncos cornerback Aqib Talib has a bit of reputation for not taking a backward step which was evident when he clashed with Raiders’ wide receiver Michael Crabtree.

Talib and Crabtree came face to face and started wrestling while on their feet.

Then all of a sudden Talib pulls away and has a yank at his opponent’s gold chain which was hanging from his neck.

Talib was asked about the incident after the game, and he confirmed it was a deliberate move.

“He’s just been wearing that chain all year, man, it’s just been growing on me,” said Talib. “I said, ‘if he wears that chain in front of me, I’m gonna snatch it off.’”

As you can imagine, Crabtree wasn’t too happy after the match.

“They’re acting; they’re actors. You aren’t defending anybody up like that,” Crabtree said. “You hard? You tough? That make you tough? You snatch a chain in front of the police and run off? Childish, man.”

Sure it wasn’t great sportsmanship by Talib but it boggles the mind why a player engaging in a contact sport would wear a gold chain anyway.
