The heaviest footballer to ever play in the NFL could be picked at next month’s draft.

LaQuan McGowan is a whopping 184kg tight end from Baylor University who, remarkably, caught touchdown passes during his college career.

The 201cm giant will break the record for the heaviest draftee, smashing the previous mark by nine kilos if he is picked by an NFL team.

Former Lions offensive tackle Aaron Gibson is regarded as the heaviest player in NFL history at 186kg having ballooned from the comparatively lithe 175kg that he weighed when he was drafted in 1999.

McGowan, who will only be picked up in the late rounds if he’s selected, is unlikely to play tight end in the NFL though, with most franchises reportedly regarding him as an offensive linesman.
