'I want to cry': Last second NFL comebacks cost famously cocky American gambler monster payday

The Buffalo Bills' improbable comeback win over Baltimore on Monday afternoon hit Ravens fans hard, but smacked controversial sports gambler Sean Perry even harder, costing him just over $303,000 AUD.

Baltimore led 40-25 with 8:37 remaining in the fourth quarter and with the ball in their possession, with Next Gen Stats giving them a 98.9 per cent win probability at that point.

Even before that however, Perry took to social media to gloat about his bet live from the venue in Buffalo, having made the trip to watch his gamble unfold.

His tweet was directed at the sportsbook he took the bet with, offering them a discount for an early pay out.

Had the Ravens held on, he would have won $577,000. However, a fumble from running back Derrick Henry and some magic from Bills quarterback Josh Allen saw the result flip on its head.

Buffalo would ultimately win 41-40 in one of the best NFL games in recent history.

Watching the game winning field goal live, Perry tweeted "I want to cry".

He infamously lost a million dollar bet on the 49ers to beat Kansas City in the Super Bowl in February of 2024.

Perry is the son of professional poker champion Ralph Perry and often brags about the amount of money he has inherited from his parents.

He has also competed in professional poker tournaments over the years in his own right.

The replies on social media to his premature gloating were not kind.

"This aged poorly," one tweeted.

"Bro was already spending the $381k in his head ... Up 15 in the 3rd and thought it was over… sportsbook cooked him slow like ribs," another wrote.

Perry would get back on his feet quickly after the loss in Buffalo, tweeting: "I may have been 99.9% to win yesterday, but shit happens…Am I going to let it deter me from my path of making another 6 figures on the bears game today…absolutely not..."

He then posted that he had bet around $150,000 on the Bears to win on Monday Night Football.

They led 17-6 over Minnesota in the fourth quarter before also blowing their lead and losing, making it a tough few days for the man.
