Bills cornerback Christian Benford driven from field after nasty head clash with teammate
Buffalo Bills cornerback Christian Benford was taken from the field in a medicab after a friendly-fire head clash with teammate Damar Hamlin.
The pair were trying to make a tackle on Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Zavier Worthy late in the first quarter of the AFC title game when they clashed heads.
Benford had spent the week prior in concussion protocol before getting cleared in time for the game.

Benford got to his feet but was shaky. He tried to return to the field, but Bills cornerback Rasul Douglas stopped him in his tracks and made sure Buffalo trainers checked on him.

Unsurprisingly, he was ruled out of the remainder of the game with a concussion.
Hamlin infamously suffered a cardiac arrest after he was injured making a tackle during a game in January 2023.
As a result of that incident, he wears a "guardian cap" on the outside of his own helmet.
After a few minutes, a cart came onto the field and took Benford up the tunnel in the corner of Arrowhead Stadium.

The loss was a big one for Buffalo, which was counting on Benford to help cover the Chiefs' fleet of wide receivers. He made a nice play earlier in the game to break up a pass deep downfield intended for Marquise Brown.
The Bills already were thin in the secondary without safety Taylor Rapp, who was inactive with back and hip injuries. He would have played a significant role in covering Chiefs tight ends Travis Kelce and Noah Gray.
The Bills lost the match 32-29 as the Chiefs booked their spot in a third-straight Super Bowl.
