Vixens and Giants to host Netball semis

Minor premiers Melbourne Vixens and the third-placed Giants will host the inaugural Super netball semi-finals next Saturday.

The Vixens will play Sunshine Coast Lightning in the major semi-final at Melbourne's Margaret Court Arena at 4pm (AEST), after both teams retained a top two spot by winning their last-round match on Saturday.

Third-placed Giants lost 56-55 at home to Lightning and will host the minor semi-final against Collingwood Magpies at the Sydney Olympic Park Sports Centre at 7pm (AEST).

Collingwood were already assured of finishing fourth irrespective of other results and the outcome of their final round game away to Adelaide on Sunday.

Vixens and Lightning went into the round level on points, with the Melbourne team leading on percentage.

Lightning briefly jumped over Vixens with their win in Sydney, but the Victorian side clinched first spot with an emphatic 68-42 away victory over West Coas Fever in Perth.

Vixens and Lightning split their two regular season clashes, with the home team winning on both occasions.

The Giants and Magpies also shared regular season honours, though each team won their away fixture.
