Netball world divided over radical rule change

The stars of the Suncorp Super Netball competition have reacted to the league's stunning new rule change.

The competition today announced the introduction of a two-goal \ in the final stages of each quarter.

Goals scored from within a designated zone will be worth double as the league looks to encourage players to take shots from longe range.

The rule will take place when shots are taken from more than three metres away from the net during the final five minutes of each quarter.

Today's news was met with a split response from the game's biggest names.

Former Giants captain Kim Green appeared to be in favour of the new rule when she took to Twitter, admitting the Suncorp Super Netball competition needed a shake-up.

However, Melbourne Vixens star Caitlin Thwaites was left disappointed due to "players not being consulted."

Australian netball great Liz Ellis said she was a fan of the new rule.

Ellis, the most capped international player for Australia, believes the new rule will bring back the "old school netball" style where players shot from anywhere inside the circle.

England international star and current Giants player Jo Harten issued up a mixed response.

The 31-year-old said it's now time to "start practicing."

Goal shooting superstar Caitlin Bassett offered up a cheeky response on her Instagram story by uploading a picture of a squad wearing pads and helmets.

Journalist Erin Delahunty took to social media to express her displeasure at the rule by declaring that netball is now "dead."
