Fever and Giants to play off for top spot

West Coast Fever coach Stacey Marinkovich has her sights set on earning "two bites of the cherry" as her side prepares for their minor premiership showdown with GWS.

The winner of Saturday night's match in Sydney will finish the season on top of the Super Netball ladder.

The loser is likely to finish second. But depending on other results and bonus points, they could slip to as low as fourth.

The top two teams are guaranteed a double chance in the finals.

But the team who finishes on top is guaranteed home-court advantage for two finals, starting with the major final between the top two teams in week one.

It means the stakes are high on Saturday night, and Marinkovich is confident her team is ready to embrace the challenge.

"The pressure is extremely high, but we're loving every moment of it," Marinkovich said.

"We've worked really hard all season to be where we're at, and to be able to finish on top would be something that's unique for the club and shows how much we've grown over the season.

"The advantages of having a home final straight up and two bites of the cherry - there's a lot to take from it.

"And also the confidence boost you get from it."

West Coast Fever goalshooter Jhaniele Fowler looms as the key figure in the match.

Fowler nailed 62 goals from 66 attempts in last week's 68-55 win over the Vixens, but she sent a scare through the camp at training on Tuesday when she copped a knock.

The Jamaican sat out the rest of the session, but only as a precaution.

"To be honest I didn't ever notice," Marinkovich said of the knock.

"It was nothing serious. We have players coming in and out of training all the time. It's late in the season, so everyone has a few niggles."

The Giants have beaten the Vixens and Magpies over the past fortnight, and will be aiming for a slice of revenge after losing to the Fever 63-61 in Perth in round six.
