Collingwood Magpies shooter Nat Medhurst has refused to rule out a return to the court for season 2020.

Medhurst announced in January she would step away from netball as she prepares to become a mother with a baby due in July.

The Suncorp Super Netball season was postponed from May 2 to at least June 30 with the shutdown to be reviewed before the end of next month.

Should the season commence in July or later in the year, Medhurst admitted an early return to the court could be on the cards, declaring it's something that continues to cross her mind after she was recently captured undertaking a conditioning session.

"I'm not too sure what I was thinking, I'm going to blame baby brain, it makes you do all weird and stupid things," Medhurst told Wide World of Sports' Keeping Contact.

"When all this stuff happened and the talks around the season possibly starting in July, it was something that did cross my mind and continues to do so.

The goal-attack even admitted her own coaching staff have been encouraging her to return, suggesting she avoid a caesarean to make sure of a quick recovery.

"I think the coaches were on to it even before I was, and they said, 'you've got to have a natural birth, you shouldn't have a c-section,' there's a six-week recovery, they were trying to pull all the strings," she said.

"But I have no idea, obviously it's something dangling there a little bit, and at the end of the day, my baby's due in July, so the health of that little one and my own will be the priority.

"We will certainly see how it all plays out, there might be a chance I'll be there, or I'll continue to cheer from the sidelines with the baby attached to me."
