England presence may backfire: Diamonds

England's player presence in Australia's Super Netball league is impressive but it may backfire in the upcoming Quad Series, Diamonds' star Madi Robinson warns.

World No.3 England are backing themselves to pull off a boilover against defending champions Australia in Saturday's Quad Series opener in Brisbane after picking a squad peppered with Super Netball stars.

England are hoping to use inside knowledge gleaned from their eight Super Netball players to take the shine off a new-look Diamonds as they try to secure their first major trophy.

England have never made a world championships or Commonwealth Games final.

However, Robinson warned Super Netball inside knowledge worked both ways ahead of their series opener.

"Having so many players in the league now they know a lot about us but we also know a lot about them," Robinson said at the Diamonds' Sunshine Coast training camp.

"A lot of us have played alongside the England players so hopefully we can utilise what we know about them in the coming days.

"But it's going to be no easy feat.

"We know England will come and hit us hard so we have to be ready for that."

A full strength England will be captained by Adelaide's Ama Agbeze but all eyes will be on Geva Mentor when she defends Australia's new captain Caitlin Bassett - her premiership-winning Sunshine Coast Lightning teammate.

"I think that will be a great contest," Robinson said.

"It is a fitting start to her (Bassett's) captaincy being in Queensland.

"It's awesome to see the new generation coming through."

Meanwhile, the Diamonds added four training partners to their squad - Greater Western Sydney's Susan Pettitt and Sam Poolman, Melbourne Vixens' Kate Moloney and Queensland Firebirds' Caitlyn Nevins.

Sunshine Coast Lightning's Kelsey Browne and Laura Scherian have also been invited into the training camp to participate in courtwork sessions at USC Stadium.

It is a shot in the arm for Pettitt who missed out on the Quad Series but has been named in October's Constellation Cup against New Zealand.

Her camp call-up gives her another chance to impress Diamonds coach Lisa Alexander before she finalises her shooting line-up for the Gold Coast Commonwealth Games.

The Diamonds host England at Brisbane Entertainment Centre before New Zealand take on South Africa in Saturday's opening doubleheader.

The series then moves to Canberra where the Diamonds will play South Africa on August 30.
