“It was pretty tough to watch,” Auburn coach Jeff Graba said after the competition.

“She’s a trouper. The last thing she said was, ‘Go help the girls.’ The girls rallied around her. They’re doing this for her right now.”

Cameras turned away once the seriousness of the situation became apparent with the gymnast reportedly screaming in agony as medical staff attended to her needs.

An update on her condition wasn't released by the university but according to Nola.com Cerio dislocated both of her knees and broke both of her legs. The Advocate reported air casts were placed around both her legs.

Cerio's teammates showed support for the fallen athlete creating the hashtag “#StickItForSam”.

“We wanted more than anything to do this for her,” coach Graba said.
