NBA star Mills stars in funny new commercial

NBA champion Patty Mills has played a starring role in a new American commercial that sees his San Antonio Spurs teammates try to coax him into delivering a famous Aussie saying.

In the commercial, an ad for US supermarket chain H-E-B’s new burger range, Mills joins Spurs teammates Tim Duncan, Kawhi Leonard, Manu Ginobili and Tony Parker at a picnic table.

Drawn by the smell of the burgers cooked by the team's mascot, Mills asks his teammates if he can join in on the smorgasbord.

But despite accepting the Boomer to the table, the four teammates suspiciously allude to the fact more burgers will need to be prepared.

“Sure, so we should …” Ginobili asks Mills.

“I don’t know, share,” Mills responds.

“No we would need to …” Duncan interjects.

“Ahh cook more?” Mills again replies.

Finally, Parker gives up on the ruse by demanding: “C’mon man, you know what we want.”

And with a sigh of resignation, Mills concedes defeat and pays homage to Paul Hogan's immortal line: “Toss another burger on the barbie.”

The four Spurs teammates then celebrate wildly before Ginobili, an Argentine international, ironically says: “I love his accent man!”

The funny commercial ends with Leonard asking Mills: “Why would you toss a burger at a barbie?”
