Scott McLaughlin IndyCar test put on hold after heavy rain
V8 Supercars champion Scott McLaughlin has had a test with Penske's IndyCar team washed out after just three laps.
The 26-year-old New Zealander will make his IndyCar series debut at the Indianapolis GP on May 9 and is currently in Austin, Texas for testing at the Circuit of the Americas track.
However, he only managed to squeeze in three laps in the No. 2 Dallara/Chevrolet before heavy rain put an end to the test this morning Australia time.

"I woke up today like it was Christmas and I haven't been able to open my presents," a disappointed McLaughlin told Wide World of Sports in a statement.
"That is how I'm feeling right about now. But look, I still got a chance to go out there and have a feel. The team got an idea of the windscreen with the rain and all of that.
"Unfortunately, it was just too cold with the tire."
McLaughlin is expecting to get back in the car tomorrow, with a better weather forecast cause for optimism.
"It was good to do a lap and just get a feel for the track, but its very similar to what I've been doing on the simulator," he said.
"The simulator has been a massive tool, so I feel right at home. I'm excited for tomorrow if it stays dry."

McLaughlin will this year juggle his new American commitments with an attempt to win his third straight Supercars championship in the final year of his contract.
After completing testing in Austin, McLaughlin will return to Australia to prepare for the opening race of the Supercars season in Adelaide.
