NASCAR pile up leaves 18 cars needing repairs at Daytona

When you have cars weighing almost 1500kg travelling at almost 290km/hr with less that a metre between them, occasionally something is going to give.

And when it does you end up with incidents like the 18-car bingle that took place during the Xfinity series race at Daytona International Speedway in Florida.

Due to the weight of these cars, they are very hard to control once they start sliding out of control. They are also extremely hard to stop.

So, when the field is packed in tight like in the above video, there is only one outcome.

All anyone can do from there is hope no-one is seriously hurt. Thankfully there are no reports of injury from this pile up.
