NASCAR crew carries on during pit lane fire

We all know commitment is a prized quality in sport, but what a NASCAR crew did in the face of genuine danger defies belief.

Martin Truex Jr’s pit crew showed incredible professionalism and carried on with their duties when the Ford EcoBoost 400 they were servicing burst into flames.

Footage from the pit lane at Homestead-Miami Speedway shows the crew go to work on the No.78 when a fire breaks out at the rear of the car where the re-fuelling is taking place.

Remarkably, the crew member changing the back left tyre carries on unperturbed while the man refuelling the car momentarily halts his job to put out the flames.

Because of the efforts of his crew, Truex Jr sets off once the four new tyres are in place.

Truex Jr went on to finish 12th in the race, meaning he finished fourth in the final overall standings.
