Mick Schumacher in F1 last chance saloon after grabbing lifeline
McLaren has announced it has reached an agreement with Mercedes which will see Mick Schumacher added to the squad's list of reserve drivers.
Schumacher will be able to step in should either Oscar Piastri or Lando Norris be sidelined.
The 23-year old was dumped by Haas for 2023 after two underwhelming seasons, with the German failing to match the performances of teammate Kevin Magnussen for much of the 2022 season.

McLaren has shared an image of Schumacher on social media, showing the German in the cockpit of one of its cars.
"McLaren will be able to call on @SchumacherMick as a reserve driver during the 2023 F1 season as part of our arrangement with Mercedes," the team wrote.
"Welcome to the family, Mick."
IndyCar champion Alex Palou is McLaren's other reserve driver.
McLaren's new team boss, Andrea Stella, was an engineer for Schumacher's father, Michael, at Ferrari between 2002-2006.

Schumacher will also be a reserve driver for Mercedes in the event either Lewis Hamilton or George Russell is unfit to drive.
The German will be hoping to use the roles as a launchpad for a return to the grid in a full-time capacity in 2024, in much the same way that Nyck de Vries has done this season.
De Vries filled in for Williams at last year's Italian Grand Prix and turned in an impressive drive to ninth spot, equal to the team's best result all season.
That's led to a full-time drive with AlphaTauri for 2023.
