Drag racer survives spectacular crash

A drag racer was lucky to walk away from a spectacular crash when his car disintegrated after taking flight and flipping across the barriers at the Bahrain International Circuit.

In spectacular footage captured from round four of the Bahrain Drag Racing Championship, the EKanoo Racing entry, a Lexus ISF Twin Turbo, fires down the straight against a rival car.

But disaster strikes just seconds into the race when the Lexus' front-end begins to lift off the ground, pushing the car and its driver into the concrete barriers guarding the track.

Hitting the barrier with a mighty collision, the car is sent into a violent spin into the night sky, bits of bodywork flying off in every direction before landing on the opposite side of the track.

But despite the wreckage, the car's unidentified driver was able to walk away unharmed from the crash.

There have also been no reports of any pit crew, officials or spectators being injured.
