Bathurst 1000 leadup marred by huge crash for third straight day
Mount Panorama has bared its teeth for the third day in a row, with another massive crash marring today's racing.
Peter Hackett had a huge loss as he made the run across the top of the mountain, slamming into the concrete wall at high speed at McPhillamy Park.
Hackett's Triple Eight car was facing the wrong direction after he lost the rear, causing heavy contact with the wall, in race two of the Australian GT category.
Dragging the right front side down the wall, huge damage was sustained to Hackett's Mercedes before it came to rest across the other side of the track in a cloud of smoke and dirt.

"And that's parked heavy into the wall there," said commentator Andrew Jones.
"Speeds across the top of the hill in these GT cars are incredibly high, well up in the 200km/h mark, so that impact is going to be really heavy regardless of where he is on the track over there".
Hackett was seen moving around in the car before exiting unassisted.
"He's had what we call in the game 'a tank slapper' that he hasn't been able to keep hold of," Jones said.
"The back of the car was dancing around, Peter was trying to catch it and wasn't able to".
Hackett's accident follows a host of other incidents this week, with Chris Pither crashing during Supercars practice yesterday, and Nash Morris and Angelo Mouzouris both having huge accidents during qualifying for the Super2 and Super3 races.
