MMA fighter Dada 5000’s heart reportedly stopped after a bizarre knockout at Bellator 149.

Dada 5000, otherwise known as Dhafir Harris, was stretchered from the octagon after a combination of rival Kimbo Slice and sheer exhaustion felled him in the third round of the clash.

The fight between the one-time employer and employee – Dada 5000 once served as Slice's bodyguard – was a true heavyweight battle with Dada 5000 weighing in at 117kg and Slice at 106kg.

And the high-intensity of the octagon quickly caught up with the two fighters, with Dada 5000 effectively turned into a walking punching bag in the final moments of the bout.

Footage of the incident shows Dada 5000 push off the cage and walk straight into Slice's blows.

Resting on his opponent and offering absolutely no resistance, Dada 5000 takes a number of hits and, in his weakened state, eventually crashes to the canvas without being touched.

The fight between the heated rivals was immediately panned by fight fans on social media.

However, the end of the fight took a dramatic turn when it was revealed that Dada 5000 had been taken to hospital where his heart had stopped temporarily.

He was then reportedly placed on a ventilator.

Dada 5000's family later explained in a statement that he had "accumulated extremely high levels of potassium in his blood which led to severe dehydration, fatigue and renal failure".

He had reportedly lost 18kg in order to face Slice.

His family confirmed he was "ok and resting comfortably".
