MLB player risks neck for foul ball

Talk about risking your neck.

Major League Baseball star Freddie Freeman nearly added to the Atlanta Braves woeful season when he acrobatically threw himself after a foul ball against the Arizona Diamondbacks.

The first baseman tried to spectacularly end the innings when he raced after a catch at the bottom of the second at Chase Field.

However, 26-year-old put his body on the line when he flew over a railing separating the field from the stands.

Flipping over it, he fell a few feet and landed with his back directly on top of an unoccupied chair, his body arching higher than the Sydney Harbour Bridge.

Despite the painful-looking fall, Freeman was quickly, but gingerly, back on his feet and walking to the dugout.

Even more surprisingly, Freeman returned to the field, recording a single the very next inning and later completing a key take-out slide at second base to prevent a double play.

The heroic performance helped Atlanta secure a 3-1 victory.
