Mexican wave lights up stadium

Gridiron fans have brought a timeless classic into the digital age after using their mobile phones to spectacularly light up the Mexican wave.

The Clemson Tigers were hosting the Wake Forest Demon Deacons in a college football clash when the home supporters began a stunning, stadium-wide light show.

Erupting on the far side of the stadium, the fans light up their phones as they rise with the wave before dimming them as they return to their seats.

The light show slowly lapped the stadium before reaching its starting point, where the rolling mobile display became more frenetic.

The display clearly motivated the home team with the Tigers running away with a 33-13 win.
