McGregor eyes 'immortality' versus Alvarez
Skipping in 13 minutes late, Conor McGregor took upcoming opponent Eddie Alvarez's lightweight title belt and placed it on the table bearing his name.
"Sorry I'm late. I just don't give a f***," declared the Irishman, sporting a white mink coat.
The pre-UFC 205 press conference in New York on Thursday (Friday AEDT) descended into mayhem - perhaps predictably given almost anything involving McGregor does.
He explained his lateness: "I operate on my own time. And I'm running early on my time."
After Alvarez took the belt back, McGregor, brandishing a chair, had to be held by UFC president Dana White.
"I'm prepared to completely destroy Conor McGregor," Alvarez said.
McGregor is aiming to become the first man to simultaneously hold separate UFC titles at the same time when the pair fight for the lightweight title at Madison Square Garden on Saturday (Sunday AEDT).
The 28-year-old claimed the featherweight title in December last year when he knocked out Jose Aldo in just 13 seconds.
He is coming off two epic welterweight battles against Nate Diaz this year, losing for the first time in the UFC in March before gaining his revenge in August.
"I'm fresh. Ready to go. I'm going to shut this man (Alvarez) up, trust me on that," McGregor said.
"I'll be immortalised after this one."
