With a career including gutsy finals wins against Maria Sharapova and Sam Stosur in the Zurich Open and Sydney International respectively, former Olympian Alicia Molik has spent much of her life at the pinnacle of elite sport. But it's the moments away from the court that can make the biggest impact. Whether using time between matches to heal and focus, or creating something different from a very demanding day job, athletes need downtime.

"For a lot of players, relaxation and mindfulness is a big part of their routine," says Molik. She goes on to talk about how the Australian Open makes sure its players are looked after off court, as well as mid-game when the eyes of the world are on them.

With a seven-year-old son and four-year-old daughter, Molik is now focused on family — with a little bit of tennis thrown in, of course.

She recently spoke to 9Honey about the challenges of juggling her time, revealing that "What I like most about life now is I feel normal, no longer nine or 10 months a year travelling the world."
