Is this the UFC's knockout of the year?

An American lightweight has pulled off perhaps the knockout of the year with a spectacular spinning kick at UFC 206.

Lando Vannata’s fight with John Makdessi in Toronto didn’t go past the first round after Vannata ended the fight with a perfectly-executed spinning kick that landed flush on the chin of his veteran opponent.

While the dramatic knockout will certainly see Vannata’s stock rise in the lightweight division, the 24-year-old was also chasing an immediate financial reward as the winner of the UFC’s Knockout of the Night. The winner pockets a US$50,000 ($67,200) reward.

“I think that deserves 50 f---ing Gs right there,” Vannata, who has an 8-1 record in the UFC.

“I’ve been working around that all camp, working on a back kick.”
