Australian tennis star Nick Kyrgios may be rubbing shoulders with tennis royalty, but that wasn’t reason for him to shy away.

Kyrgios will be part of the John McEnroe-led Team World in the 2018 Laver Cup in Chicago and will face off against Roger Federer’s Team Europe.

Prior to the meeting, Kyrgios was quick to size up the 20-time Grand Slam winner with some slick trash talk.

“I know they want Team World to win, we’re definitely more entertaining,” Kyrgios said while appearing with Federer at the Laver Cup launch.

“We’re not as mature, but we’re going to have some new celebrations and it’s going to be fun.”

The 36-year-old veteran hit back imploring fans to support his squad.

“Go nuts for team Europe. Come and support your man Roger Federer. Be loud,” said Federer.

This year's iteration will be the second edition of the Laver Cup, and four matches will be played on each of the three days of the tournament.

Each team will be comprised of six players, with four of the six qualifying through their ATP singles ranking following Wimbledon.

The following two “captain’s picks” will be announced following the completion of the US Open.

The matches will all take place at Chicago’s United Center, home to the Chicago Bulls.
